Faith in the hard times

Ps 91:1-2 – Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He ALONE is my refuge, my place of safety, he is my God and I trust Him.

Lately we have been hearing so many heartbreaking stories of pain and struggle. Cancer, sickness, divorce, anxiety, and death. Many times in life, we don’t understand everything that happens around us. We don’t have all the details that may bring clarity. It is frustrating. It is difficult. In those moments, we may turn to many different places for refuge. Yet in this Psalm, we are reminded of what it means to be a person of faith.

In times of uncertainty, can we still trust God? Hebrews 11 tells us that without faith it is impossible to please God. So we have faith in good times. And yes, we also have faith in the hard times. Faith that He is God. Faith that He is good. Faith that He loves us. Faith that He will never leave us nor forsake us. Faith that God will be enough in our struggles. Faith that even if healing doesn’t come today, He will make all things new one day.

My prayer for all of us…

May we find courage when fear surrounds us. May we find peace when our hearts are troubled. May we rediscover joy when we are weeping. May we learn to find refuge in the shelter of the Most High.
